Georgia Efthymiou

Technische Universitaet Kaiserslautern

Background

Georgia was born in Athens, Greece in 1993. She obtained her Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), with specialisation in Geotechnical Engineering. Directly after graduation, she was involved as a Research Assistant in the activities of the Soil Mechanics Laboratory of the NTUA, conducting research with main focus on Soil-Structure Interaction and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. Subsequently, she spent one year as an exchange graduate student at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (TUK) in Germany. After a short period as a consulting engineer in Athens, she was selected as an Early Stage Researcher at the TUK in the frame of INSPIRE.

As an Early Stage Researcher in INSPIRE, Georgia will focus on the development of novel-material concepts, involving advanced and configurable pile arrays for wave mitigation in soil. The relevance of this specific research to engineering practice is expected to offer efficient solutions for vibration protection.

In her free time, Georgia enjoys playing music, travelling, reading literature and going to the cinema.
